Polaroid is one of my favourite mediums. It’s so cool how a small square containing layers of chemicals can hold such a important place in your heart. These photos are something that you can never recreate exactly. You can’t replicate the small manipulations you get from shoving your fresh shot in your bag and running to catch up with your family or friends. Most importantly you can never recreate the fact that it can be taken and physically tangible right in the moment. It is always exciting to see what colours the film will bring out depending on what temperature the shot was taken in, wether it be in a cold & snowy location or somewhere in the tropics. The variables and the fact the the image cannot be edited add to the unique qualities of the end result.
I have around 150 instant photos on my wall and every single one is a physical moment blended into chemicals and frozen in time. It is fascinating to me that when I look at each individual polaroid and the image within that small square that I can suddenly remember the exact moment, the smells, the noises and I am taken back to that moment.
